MEMEDIICAL & HEALTH INFORMATION

GENERAL

Depending on the destination of the tour, vaccinations may be required or recommended. However, it is the ultimate responsibility of the traveller to check with his/her General Practioner or a specialist vaccination centre for a definite recommendation.

Malaria is prevalent throughout Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is strongly recommended that malaria prophylaxis and preventive measures are taken when travelling to those countries. However for more detailed information we would strongly recommend you contact your GP.

INSURANCE

It is the ultimate responsibility of the traveller to contract an adequate insurance cover before departure.

When making a decision regarding health insurance, travellers should consider that doctors and hospitals require payment in cash prior to providing service and that a medical evacuation to the country may cost well in excess of 50,000 U.S. dollars. Uninsured travellers who require medical care overseas often face extreme difficulties, whereas travellers who have purchased overseas medical insurance have found it to be life saving when a medical emergency has occurred. When consulting with your insurer prior to your trip, please ascertain whether payment will be made to the overseas healthcare provider or if you will be reimbursed later for expenses that you incur. Some insurance policies also include coverage for psychiatric treatment and for disposition of remains in the event of death.
